MICHAEL C. OLDWEILER

Michael C. Oldweiler was born and raised on a farm in Decatur, IL. After graduating from SLU undergrad in 2011, he took some time off to work on the family farm. In December 2012, he began working at a foreclosure law firm and realized he wanted to go to law school. Every attorney at the firm offered differing strategies for law school success, but they all agreed that Barbri was the only way to go when it came to bar prep, so thankfully Michael had that detail ironed out before the first day of class.

At SLU Law, Michael enjoyed the wide selection of practical skills courses. Whether it was trial advocacy, moot court, or some aspect of civil litigation, Michael signed up and dove in. When not in class, Michael spent the vast majority of his time working in the school’s legal clinic where he worked on over 30 cases for indigent clients in the course of a year and a half. He also handled all stages of an unemployment compensation appeal, including an oral argument in the Missouri Court of Appeals Eastern District, and ultimately received a favorable decision for his client. The case has since been published: Cook v. Accord Bldg. Servs., LLC, 481 S.W.3d 893 (Mo. App. E.D. 2016).

Michael currently works as Legal Counsel for the Office of the Secretary of State of Missouri.
